Besides graphic software and design skills, DTP also requires high knowledge of printing technologies, processes and materials, because design for printing is more demanding than designing things that are presented only on display. Printed materials require not only higher resolution, but also knowledge of which machines and techniques will be used for printing, types of paper, cutting color separation and other steps and operations that are necessary to have printed materials such as books, magazines and newspapers.
